The Aftermath

The Horror

The Horror

Once I came off of the high of preparing and eating the deliciously fried herb-y chicken tenders, I realized that my night was far from over.  Of course I’m referring to the Post-Deep-Fry Clean-Up. And this is the reason it will be months before I deep fry again.

I thought I’d follow my brother-in-law’s advice on trying to recover my frying oil ($5 worth by the way) by filtering it through a coffee filter.  Man does that sound easy.  Just pour it on through, filter out the ooky stuff and you’re good to go.  Right?  Seriously bro, does this work better for you??  This is quite the set-up.  Of course the coffee filter would fall right into the container unless held in place, so I fished the asparagus rubber band out of the trash (oh yea, I just admitted that) and fashioned this marvelous device:

I work in a lab.  I am used to vacuum filtering things.  This is a bit low-tech for me.  And sloooowwwwwwww.  This has been going on for almost 2 hours now.  And to give credit where credit is due, my wonderful husband cleaned up the stove-top.  It was just as disastrous as you may be imagining.

Drip...drip........drip

Drip...drip........drip

And this, my friends, is the reason this will be a deep-fry-free zone for as long as my memory holds out.
